The latest release in ACCP’s new Pediatric Self-Assessment Program (PedSAP) focuses on research in the pediatric patient population and the unique opportunities and challenges within this age group.
Research and Study Design in Pediatrics carries a total of 8.5 continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credits. Content was developed under the leadership of Faculty Panel Chair Christopher Shaffer, Pharm.D., M.S., BCPS.
This PedSAP release provides an overview of conducting pediatric research. Chapters in the first module examine the bioethical and regulatory guidelines that govern the conduct of research in children, optimal design for pediatric research studies, and the opportunities claims databases provide for research in this population. The Clinical and Practice Updates module comprises three electronic features that use innovative learning formats. These include a recorded webcast on pediatric study design; an interactive case exploring the adoption of novel therapies in the NICU; and a recorded guidelines review on conducting pediatric research using medical records.
All PedSAP chapters are fully referenced, with online links to literature compilers such as PubMed. In addition, hypertext links provide ready access to clinical practice guidelines, and other resources. PedSAP releases are designed not only to provide BCPPS recertification credits but also to update the pediatric clinical practictioner and improve patient outcomes.
