The care of patients with chronic illnesses in the ambulatory care (outpatient) setting is an important focus for many of today's clinicians. Patients often present with multiple illnesses, so a comprehensive approach to care is key. A clinician caring for many types of patients needs timely and practical information regarding treatment guidelines, algorithms, and expert opinions to guide overall patient care. In addition, when patients are admitted for inpatient care, a clinician must assess and provide care for a patient's chronic illnesses while caring for acute conditions.
Chronic Illnesses is the first of two PSAP-V books to focus solely on disease states affecting ambulatory populations. The care of a patient with diabetes is divided between a chapter on contemporary diabetic care and a chapter on the management of diabetic complications. Various common neurologic illnesses are addressed, including headache, chronic pain control, seizure disorders, and sleep disorders. Thromboembolic diseases and rheumatologic diseases are addressed through the eyes of experienced practitioners. The first-ever PSAP chapter on Dermatology also makes its debut.
Other topics covered in the 11 book series include Cardiology; Health Care Stakeholders; Psychiatry; Geriatrics/Special Populations; Science and Practice of Pharmacotherapy; Infectious Diseases; Pediatrics; Hematology; Oncology; Critical Care; and Transplantation.
PSAP is dedicated to offering the most up-to-date and comprehensive information available on recent drug advances. Each book will further your knowledge in the therapeutic area it covers. PSAP is available in both print and online versions.
