Learning Objectives 1. Provide an overview of the factors and initiatives leading to the current national interest in comparative effectiveness. 2. Compare the differences between comparative effectiveness studies and traditional efficacy studies. 3. Describe the study designs and methods pertinent to comparative effectiveness. 4. Discuss importance of stakeholder input in planning comparative effectiveness research. 5. Explain the relevance of comparative effectiveness research to pharmacy practice. 6. Describe AHRQ’s Effective Health Care program and the process for submitting topics to AHRQ for future comparative effectiveness research. 7. Identify scientific evidence-based resources, including clinician and patient guides, produced through AHRQ’s comparative effectiveness program, that are relevant for use in practice.
