Career Advancement Primer
ACCP Academy Career Advancement Certificate Program*
(Formerly Clinical Practice Advancement Certificate Program)

This full day program is the required, prerequisite course for participants in the ACCP Academy Career Advancement Certificate Program. The development of a personal strategic plan for your advancement as a clinician will lay the framework for this core program. Faculty will examine how to justify the value of your clinical activities, how to facilitate your own professional development, and more. Participants will engage in discussions on how roles can be established in team and collaborative patient care environments. Components of a successful clinical practice will be reviewed.
Basic Training for New Clinical Faculty and Preceptors
ACCP Academy Teaching and Learning Certificate Program*
8:00 a.m.- 5:30 p.m.
Highly interactive, this full-day workshop will address the needs of new clinical faculty and preceptors to help them thrive in the academic community. Participants will review the basic concepts related to current pedagogical theory and practice as they pertain to pharmacy education and practice. The program is designed to help faculty and preceptors develop basic strategies for planning, implementing, and assessing educational experiences structured to achieve clearly defined student outcomes within didactic and clinical settings. Discussions will include clarifying one’s own purposes, goals, and philosophy for teaching, and identify strategies for continued self-learning.
From Theory to Bedside: Clinical Reasoning Series—Oral Antithrombotic Therapy
Approved for BCPS Recertification Credit
8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.

The newly developed Clinical Reasoning Series has been approved by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties for credit toward recertification as a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS). The Clinical Reasoning Series will provide an overview of new and emerging oral antithrombotic agents and discuss their clinical use to help inform individual patient care and institutional formulary decisions. The activity will offer 6.0 hours of BCPS recertification credit. To earn recertification credit for the Clinical Reasoning Series, BCPSs must attend the full live activity and successfully complete the Web-based posttest for the activity by November 30, 2011. Partial credit is not available for this activity.
Regulatory/Ethical Issues
ACCP Academy Research and Scholarship Certificate Program*
1:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m.

This course addresses operational and ethical issues associated with developing and directing clinical research. Perspectives on human subject protection as well as current concepts/perspectives related to informed consent, HIPAA, IRBs, and cultural competency will be provided. The session will integrate case studies focusing on ethical, legal, and social issues. Budget management, quality control processes, and appropriate data management to ensure data integrity will be discussed. Author responsibilities, managing misconduct allegations, and navigating the IRB will also be addressed.

Note: You do not have to be enrolled in the ACCP Academy to attend any of the academy activities and receive CPE credit, but you must be enrolled to receive credit towards the specific certificate.
