ACCP Annual Meeting Resident/Fellow Travel Awards

 

ACCP offers travel stipends and/or complimentary meeting registrations to help defray the costs residents and fellows incur when traveling to attend an ACCP national meeting. Resident/Fellow Travel Awards are administered through the ACCP Research Institute and are funded by the Resident/Fellow Travel Award Fund.

How to Apply

Resident or fellow members of ACCP who are enrolled in a training program at the time of the meeting are invited to apply for the awards. PRN Travel Awards

In addition to ACCP Resident/Fellow Travel Awards, the following PRNs also provide travel awards to defray costs associated with attending the ACCP Annual Meeting. Please see below for more information about each travel award, including eligibility and application deadlines.

Each PRN Travel Award has its own application process separate from the ACCP Resident/Fellow Travel Award application above. If you applying for multiple travel awards, please be sure to submit an application for each travel award you are applying for.

Adult Medicine
Description
This is a $1000 award to provide an opportunity for a pharmacy resident or fellow to present and promote his or her current research efforts to the Adult Medicine PRN. This award will go toward registration and travel expenses for the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Eligibility
A member of ACCP in good standing. An Adult Medicine PRN member. Have initiated the project during residency/fellowship. Have conducted research in an area applicable to adult medicine. Anticipate project completion by the ACCP Annual Meeting and within 1 year of completion of residency or fellowship training. Present results at the Adult Medicine PRN session at the ACCP Annual Meeting.
Application Requirements
Submit an abstract (using ACCP guidelines available at www.accp.com) to the chair of the Adult Medicine PRN Travel and Training Awards Committee. Submit a brief statement (250 word max) about the impact of your project on adult medicine pharmacy practice (include your name and residency program).

Cardiology
Description
The ACCP Cardiology PRN will award two travel grants per year to partially support the costs of travel of residents, fellows, or PhD students to attend the ACCP Annual meeting.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply, the candidate should fulfill the following criteria:
  • Be a current member of ACCP;
  • Be a member of the Cardiology PRN;
  • Be currently completing training, or have completed training within the past 6 months, in a residency, fellowship, or Ph.D. program;
  • Have an abstract accepted for presentation at the annual ACCP meeting. For applicants that have completed training within the past 6 months, the research being presented must have been a project completed during their residency or fellowship program.

The abstract must be submitted to the Chair of the Cardiology PRN Abstract Review Committee via web form. http://therph.co/yO The abstract review committee will put emphasis on research within the area of cardiology.

Critical Care
Description
The Critical Care PRN will award travel grants to partially support the costs of travel and attendance of a critical care fellow and two critical care residents at the ACCP Annual meeting.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for the resident/fellow travel award the candidate must:
  • Be a current member of the Critical Care PRN
  • Be currently completing training or have completed training within the past 6 months in a, critical care residency or fellowship program (under the direction of a critical care PRN member), PGY-1 residency with a critical care research topic (under the direction of a critical care PRN member), or a current critical care PGY-2 resident or fellow who has completed a critical care related project during their PGY-1 year
  • Have an abstract accepted for presentation at the annual ACCP meeting. For applicants that have completed training within the past 6 months, the research being presented must have been a project completed during their residency or fellowship program
Application Requirements
The abstract must be submitted to the Chair of the Critical Care PRN Awards Committee via email by the deadline stated in the call for abstracts. The abstracts will be scored individually by each member of the Awards Committee, and the award will be granted to the abstract with the highest average score. If an abstract is submitted by a resident or fellow that is under the mentorship of a member of the awards committee, that committee member will recuse him or herself from scoring that abstract. In the case of a tie score, the award will be determined by consensus of the members of the Awards Committee.

Description
The EDTR PRN travel scholarship is intended to provide partial financial support to two student(s), resident(s) or fellow(s) to the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Emergency Medicine
Description
The Emergency Medicine Practice and Research Network (EMED PRN) of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) will award one travel award per year for each a student and resident to partially support the costs of travel and attendance at the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Eligibility
To be eligible the following criteria must be met:
  • Be a current member of the EMED PRN
  • Have an abstract accepted for presentation (poster or platform) at the 2013 Annual ACCP meeting or 2013 ACCP virtual poster session
  • Resident Award – the applicant may currently be in a residency or fellowship position or have completed training within the previous 6 months
  • Be available to attend the Annual ACCP meeting
Application Requirements
The recipients of the travel awards will be required to present their research project as a 10-minute platform presentation at the EMED PRN business meeting on Tuesday, October 15 from 6 to 9 pm at the Hyatt Regency, Albuquerque, NM. Each applicant may only submit one research abstract for consideration for either the Student or Resident Award. Students or Residents/Fellows that have received an ACCP Travel Award or another PRN Travel Award for the 2013 ACCP Annual meeting will have to decline the award of their choosing so that only one award is received. In the event that the EMED PRN travel award is declined, the runner-up will be awarded.

Geriatrics
Description
The Geriatrics PRN will award one (1) travel grant to partially support the expenses associated with attendance and travel for one resident/fellow to the 2013 ACCP Annual Meeting for those pursuing post-graduate residency training in geriatrics or who may be considering geriatric training.

GI/Liver/Nutrition PRN
Description
The GI/Liver/Nutrition PRN would like to encourage students, residents, or fellows with an interest and relevant involvement in the field of gastroenterology, hepatology, or nutrition to apply for a travel grant that would help support attendance at the ACCP annual meeting. Examples of eligible projects include, but are not limited to, DUE, QI, and IRB in addition to traditional research.

Immunology/Transplantation
Description
ACCP Immunology/Transplantation PRN Travel Award

Eligibility
1. Be current member of the Transplant/Immunology PRN 2. Have a research abstract accepted to the Transplant/Immunology specialty section for the Annual ACCP meeting. 3. A resident/fellow or applicant has been in transplant practice for less than 5 years at the time the research was conducted. 4. Submit no more than one abstract for this award. 5. Not have received the award in the previous three years 6. Be willing to present his/her poster as a brief platform talk at the PRN Networking Session to be held during the same meeting as when the poster is presented.
Application Requirements
Submit a copy of your abstract for consideration for the award. Once ACCP has made an announcement of selected abstracts, the travel award recipients will be chosen and notified.

Infectious Diseases
Description
This is an award for up to $1000 to provide an opportunity for a PGY1 or a PGY2 pharmacy resident or fellow to present and promote their current research efforts to the ACCP infectious diseases PRN. This award will go toward registration and travel expenses to the Fall Annual ACCP meeting.

Description
The Nephrology PRN will award one resident or fellow a grant to partially support the costs of travel and attendance at the ACCP Annual meeting. Preference will be given to those presenting a nephrology-focused poster at the ACCP meeting.

Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria:
  • Be a resident or fellow member of ACCP who is able to attend the Nephrology PRN Business and Networking Meeting at the ACCP Annual Meeting (preference will be given to those who are members of the Nephrology PRN or who are completing a nephrology-focused residency or fellowship)
  • Present a poster or provide a brief presentation of their nephrology-focused clinical or research project at the Nephrology PRN Business and Networking meeting (~10 minutes)
  • Be currently training or have completed training, within the past 6 months, in a nephrology residency or fellowship program (under the direction of a PRN member), PGY-1 resident with a nephrology focused research topic (under the direction of a PRN member), or a current nephrology PGY-2 resident or fellow who has completed a nephrology related project during their PGY-1 year
  • Posters accepted for presentation at the ACCP Annual meeting are welcome
Application Requirements
The abstract must be submitted to the Chair of the Nephrology PRN Membership Committee via email by the deadline stated in the call for abstracts. Pain and Palliative Care
Description
The Pain and Palliative Care PRN will award a 2 travel grants in the amount of $500 each. The PRN will have the option of distributing the grants to either students, residents, or fellows, based on the quality of the individual applications, and not the level of training. If selected, the resident (PGY-1 or PGY-2) will present on the subject of pain management and/or palliative care at the Pain and Palliative Care PRN Business & Networking Meeting at the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics/Pharmacogenomics
Description
This travel award has been instituted in the memory of M. Kelli Jordan. Kelli completed her residency training at the National Institutes of Health and had just begun her Pharmacometrics Fellowship at the University of Buffalo with Dr. Alan Forrest when she was diagnosed with cancer. Kelli passed away in December 2001. The M. Kelli Jordan Travel Award will provide two awards of $750.

Description
The Women’s Health PRN will award a travel grant to a student or resident with an interest in women’s health. The award of $500 is to provide partial support for registration and/or travel related expenses (flight, hotel, food).
