Best Paper Recognition Awarded to Laizure

The winner of the Best Paper Award at the 2009 ACCP Annual Meeting was announced on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, during the second Scientific Poster Presentation. New this year, Best Paper finalists were required to give an 8- to 10-minute platform presentation and to participate in a separate question-and-answer session with the judging panel. The winner of the Best Student Poster Award was announced on Monday, October 19, 2009, and the winner of the Best Resident and Fellow Poster Awards was announced on Tuesday, October 20, 2009.

Relling Elected to the Institute of Medicine
Mary V. Relling, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS

The Institute of Medicine (IOM) of the National Academies has elected to membership Mary V. Relling, Pharm.D., FCCP. Dr. Relling, a long-standing ACCP member, is Chair of the Pharmaceutical Department at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Professor in the Colleges of Pharmacy and Medicine at the University of Tennessee, Memphis. On October 12, the Institute announced the names of 65 new members and 5 foreign associates in conjunction with its 39th annual meeting.

ACCP Academy Honors First Class of Graduates

The inaugural ACCP Academy commencement ceremonies were held at the 2009 Annual Meeting in Anaheim, California. ACCP President John Murphy welcomed the graduating class together with members of the Academy faculty and ACCP leadership at a special breakfast ceremony on October 20. The ACCP Academy was established in an effort to provide high-quality and readily accessible professional development opportunities for members of the College. The Academy officially began in August 2006, when the Teaching and Learning Certificate Program was launched under the direction of Dr. Thomas Zlatic, Professor at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy.
