Research Institute Kicks Off Annual Year-End Fundraising Campaign in Austin

ACCP members engage in some friendly gaming at ACCP’s Casino Night during last month’s 2014 Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas.

The 2014 Annual End-of-the Year Fundraising Campaign of the ACCP Research Institute (RI) was launched on a high note during last month’s ACCP Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas. The RI’s Casino Night and the ACCP City Limits Karaoke Stage delivered both fun and surprises to Sunday night’s Opening Reception attendees. It also helped move the RI closer to achieving its $110,000 fundraising goal for 2014.

It’s been a busy year for the RI as the institute implements its new strategic plan. The RI has transitioned into a new role of responsibility for scientific abstract review and paper presentations. In addition, two new clinical pharmacist-investigator development and training programs were announced at the Annual Meeting—the RI Futures Grants and the Mentored Research Investigator Training (MeRIT) Program, both of which will debut in 2015 as described elsewhere in this edition of the ACCP Report. The RI’s flagship programs, the Practice-Based Research Network (PBRN) and the Focused Investigator Training (FIT) Program, will be nicely complemented by these new offerings.

The ACCP Board of Regents entertains Annual Meeting attendees on the Annual Meeting’s Karaoke Stage.

However, the RI’s strategic plan extends well beyond these new initiatives. The plan calls for expanded efforts to heighten awareness and enthusiasm toward translational research, student and trainee member involvement in translational research, and continued efforts to advance the quality and quantity of evidence that drives patient- and population-specific pharmacotherapeutic decision-making.

The RI sincerely appreciates the support received from those who attended the Annual Meeting fundraising event, made a cash contribution, or donated a speaking honorarium. This support has been invaluable. The RI is now soliciting year-end contributions to support its growing initiatives. If you have already contributed in 2014 and are able to make an additional donation, please do so. If you’ve not yet contributed to the RI Frontiers Fund, please consider doing so now. Tax-deductible donations are easily made by visiting www.accpri.org/give or by calling the RI staff at (913) 492-3311. ACCP member contributions are critical to ensuring that the RI can continue to develop clinical pharmacy researchers and advance clinical pharmacy research.
