The oncology specialty residency at the University of Washington Medical Center is designed to help practitioners develop and refine the pharmaceutical care skills necessary to make and monitor therapeutic interventions for the safe and efficacious use of drug therapy in oncology patients. The UWMC cancer program is nationally recognized and a member of the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance which includes the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle Children's Hospital and UWMC. Rotation opportunities includes inpatient and ambulatory hematology-oncology, gynecology-oncology, pediatric oncology, stem cell transplantation, radiation oncology, investigational drug service, drug information, and a 40 bed allogeneic bone marrow transplant unit. Residents will also participate in the experiential training of Pharm.D. students and general practice residents as well as giving didactic lectures at the UW School of Pharmacy. Participation in oncology pharmacy research is required.
