The program is designed to train residents to provide a high level of pharmaceutical care to a diverse patient population in a private nonprofit regional healthcare system. The program provides flexibility to meet individual needs and interest of the resident. Acute care includes critical care, trauma, emergency medicine, cardiology, medical/surgical, oncology, pediatrics, neonatal, and infectious disease. Ambulatory care includes family practice, oncology, CHF, anticoagulation, home infusion, and pediatric. Other learning experiences include prescriptive protocols, drug information, formulary management, staff development, medication-use-evaluations, newsletter, and administration. Completion of a major project is required. MHS is the largest healthcare system in the region and is a referral center for adults, pediatrics and neonates. The diversity of practice offers tremendous opportunities for learning. MHS is nationally recognized as a Top 5 Integrated HealthCare System and is a national award winner for excellence in use of health information technology.
