This residency program in a private nonprofit health care system and teaching hospital is structured to teach the resident how to provide clinical pharmacy services. It is individualized toward the resident's area of interest. Ambulatory rotations include pharmacist managed anticoagulation clinics at eight sites, home and ambulatory infusion,internal medicine, diabetes education, ESA clinic, hospice and a pharmacotherapy consult service. Acute care rotations offered are critical care, cardiology, infectious diseases, internal medicine/hospitalist, mental health, oncology and pharmacokinetics. Other experiences include drug information, management, P&T, IRB and managed care activities, drug use policy development, medication error prevention and quality assurance. Besides student precepting opportunities and options to present lectures to medical students and residents, a teaching rotation and a teaching certificate is offered through Oregon State University. A major research project is required and will be presented at the Western States Residency Conference.
