The Franciscan Health System's ASHP accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency is a one-year program for Doctor of Pharmacy residents. The program provides extensive experience in providing pharmaceutical care in acute care and ambulatory environment as well as Departmental Administration. Our Pharmacy Practice Residency experience differs from other programs in that residents gain experience in a private, nonprofit community hospital practicing progressive Pharmaceutical Care.
The purpose of the residency is to develop an individual with clinical and practical pharmacy management skills. On-site rotations include Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Oncology, Critical Care, Hospice, Ambulatory Care, Infectious Disease, Practice Management, Dialysis, Mental Health, Cardiology, Clinical Research, Hospice, and Advanced Oncology. The resident will also have the opportunity to assist with pharmacy student rotations. It is expected that the resident will be able to proficiently practice pharmaceutical care in a community hospital after completion of the residency.
