Series Overview

From Theory to Practice: Clinical Reasoning Series in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy is one component of the professional development program developed by ACCP and approved by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) for the recertification of the Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP).

This educational series explores cutting-edge, contemporary therapeutic topics, and demonstrates scientifically sound clinical reasoning and decision-making. It employs learning activities designed to advance the participants’ skills and abilities to critically evaluate the scientific evidence and to effectively incorporate into daily practice significant findings that lead to effective and safe patient care.

Program Content

“Hepatitis C: The Newest Strategies for Management and Treatment” will provide an in-depth analysis of the current evidence on the use of various agents approved for the management of hepatitis C and discuss the implications for pharmacist patient care services.

“Hepatitis C: The Newest Strategies for Management and Treatment” covers the following content:

  • Management of HCV in Treatment Naïve and Interferon-Experienced Individuals

Target Audience and Program Goals

Clinical Pharmacists and BCACPs providing care to patients with Hepatitis C.

At the conclusion of the program, the participant should be able to:

  1. Discuss direct acting antiviral agents for the treatment of Hepatitis C Virus (HCV).
  2. Identify challenges associated with HCV treatment.
  3. Apply national guidelines to recommend patient-specific HCV treatment plans.
  4. Outline opportunities to advance pharmacist involvement in the management of HCV treatment.
Continuing Pharmacy Education Credit

ACPE

The American College of Clinical Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.

This is an application-based activity; Activity Number: 0217-0000-16-111-H01-P.

To earn continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credit and to receive your continuing pharmacy education statement of credit for this activity, participants must successfully complete a Web-based posttest by October 23, 2019. Partial credit is not available for this activity.

BCACP Specialty Recertification Credit

To be eligible for 6.0 CPE hours of recertification credit, BCACPs must successfully complete a Web-based posttest by November 30, 2016. Partial credit is not available for this activity.

ACCP, as the official provider approved by BPS, will record and report recertification credit earned for this activity directly to BPS.
