PSAP-V Information

No other source provides as much information as PSAP-V, information you can put to use immediately in the provision of quality patient care to improve patient outcomes. The program is designed as a self-assessment tool to assist you in sharpening your clinical skills at your own pace and keeping abreast in therapeutic areas with updated standards of practice.

The first book of PSAP-V was released in January 2004 in both print and online versions. PSAP-V covers 15 therapeutic areas in a series of 11 home-study books. A full series subscription contains 11 books. NOTE: Not all PSAP-V books are still available in print format. You may still purchase full print subscriptions; however, some books may be delivered in the online format (pdfs). See purchasing information below.

Book A includes chapters containing current, relevant information within each therapeutic area. Each chapters includes updates of critical pharmacotherapy with a focus on the provision of quality patient care to improve patient outcomes, footnotes that provide additional references on the topic, annotated references to direct health care professionals to additional resources for further study, and multiple choice self-assessment questions in case-study format written to improve participants' clinical management skills. Book B provides the answers and detailed rationale for the self-assessment questions.

New Processes for PSAP-V

To receive Continuing Pharmacy Education credit, an answer sheet must be returned for scoring. CE credit will be awarded for test scores 50% or greater. The answers to each CE test will be made available electronically to each participant after he or she has successfully completed the CE test. Those participants who desire to receive the answers in printed format must waive their opportunity to receive CE credit for any remaining unused CE programs that are included in a book, unless they submit the CE tests for those programs at the same time. If you submitted a PSAP-V CE test, information will be included with your statement of continuing education credit describing how to receive your answers in an electronic format.

To receive the explained answers to the continuing education questions without submitting a CE test, fill out the top portion of the PSAP answer sheet for the applicable CE program and check the waiver statement, which states "Please send me the printed answers for the CE questions in the module indicated above. Because the answer book includes the answers to the other modules in this PSAP book, I waive my ability to submit future tests for those modules in this book that I have not submitted at this point." If you requested a printed answer book, those will be mailed to you with your statement of continuing education credit when they are released.

BCPS Recertification

PSAP-V has been approved by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties for use in BCPS recertification. If you plan to use PSAP-V for recertification, please note that there is a postmark deadline (3 months after the release of each book) for submission of the tests for recertification credit.

Only completed tests are eligible for credit; partial credit is not given for any section. The passing point for BCPS recertification is based on statistical analysis of the examinations in each of the modules. Postmark deadlines for receipt of tests are printed in the front of each PSAP book. Questions regarding the number of hours required for BCPS recertification should be directed to:

Continuing Education Credit

PSAP allows pharmacists to continuously develop, update, and assess their knowledge in the science and application of pharmacotherapy. Emphasis is placed on integrating and utilizing new drug therapy knowledge in professional practice. Specific educational objectives accompany each module.

The American College of Clinical Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. To receive ACPE credit for each module, a score of 50% or above must be achieved.

To receive continuing pharmacy education credit, an answer sheet must be returned for scoring. The answers to each CE test will be made available electronically to all participants after they have successfully completed the CE tests. Those participants who desire to receive the answers in a printed format must waive their opportunity to receive CE credit for any remaining unused CE programs that are included in a book, unless they submit the CE tests for those programs at the same time.

To receive the explained answers to the CE questions without submitting a CE test, participants are asked to fill out the top portion of the PSAP answer sheet for the applicable CE program and check the waiver statement.

NOTE to full print series subscribers: Not all PSAP-V books are available in print format. You may still purchase full print subscriptions; however, some books may be delivered in the online format. For details, call ACCP customer service at (913) 492-3311.
