Updates in Therapeutics:

Taught by Board Certified Specialists, these courses cover areas within each domain of each specialty that are critical to successful performance on the certification exam. In addition to a live course conducted each year, materials are available as online courses, print and online books, audiotapes and CD-ROM for home study use.

Pharmacotherapy Self-Assessment Program
PSAP is developed primarily as an on-going professional development tool and is approved by BPS as an acceptable means of recertification for Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialists. Although many individuals find it useful as a board preparatory aid, this is not its primary purpose. PSAP focuses on new information from the last 3 years and is not intended to be a global review of therapeutics. Many pharmacists have found PSAP to be helpful in preparing for board certification when used for focused preparation in conjunction with a Prep Course. Those seeking a complete set of modules should consider purchasing PSAP-III, which concluded in July 2000.

Pharmacotherapy: A Pathophysiologic Approach, Sixth Edition
As the role of the pharmacist has expanded from dispensing drugs to include providing direct patient care and advising other health care professionals about drugs and their potential side effects, this text has helped pharmacists prepare for those changes. When used with a Prep Course, this book is excellent for focused preparation.

Melmon and Morrelli's Clinical Pharmacology, Fourth Edition
A unique resource providing both basic and clinical information for therapeutic drug decision-making by students, primary care practitioners, and pharmacists. When used with a Prep Course, this book is excellent for focused preparation.

The ACCP Scientific Series Biostatistics I & II, Second Edition
Many pharmacists have found this material helpful as they prepare for specialty board certification.

Biostats I contains a new chapter, Essential Clinical Concepts of Biostatistics, and includes 8 audio cassettes, cassette album for bookshelf storage, and a 100+ page syllabus.

Biostats II contains a new chapter, Statistical Concepts and Methods Used to Evaluate Pharmacotherapy, and includes 5 audio cassettes, cassette album for bookshelf storage, and a 100+ page syllabus.

Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes:
Applications for Patient Care
Module 1: Concepts of Pharmacoeconomics

(180 pages; 16 ACPE approved contact hours)
This comprehensive series of home-study modules is designed for all pharmacists and physicians who wish to develop and assess their knowledge in measuring and evaluating economic and patient-based outcomes. This module is an excellent overview of pharmacoeconomics principles for those with minimal exposure to this topic.

Primer of Biostatistics, Sixth Edition
This edition presents the fundamentals of statistics-including the t test, analysis of variance, hypothesis testing, and other basic principles that would be useful for anyone lacking a strong foundation in statistics. This fourth edition includes not only updated examples, but added chapters on survival curves, and expanded treatment of multiple comparisons, as well. This easy-to-read book makes biostatistics relevant to your own study and daily practice.

Interpreting the Medical Literature, Fourth Edition
Interpreting the Medical Literature provides clinicians with an approach to reading and understanding research articles that appear in medical journals. The concise, easy-to-read guidelines in this resource help you understand the fundamental principles of epidemiology, apply epidemiologic data, develop skills to evaluate study design and execution, and formulate a dissenting opinion. Throughout this text, current and classic examples from the literature reinforce your understanding.

Fundamentals of Clinical Trials, Third Edition
The organization of the text in Fundamentals of Clinical Trials presents the essentials in the order that they would be used in developing a typical protocol. A chapter is devoted to each of the critical areas of a protocol to aid the clinical trial researcher. The fundamentals described in this text are based on sound scientific methodology, statistical principles, and years of accumulated experience by three authors.

Designing Clinical Research, Second Edition
This book is a practical guide to planning and implementing clinical research. It includes patient-oriented and translational research, epidemiologic and behavioral studies, and public health and health services research. The straightforward and reader-friendly text provides rigorous and complete descriptions of key components. Designing Clinical Research is constructed to help beginning investigators get started in the world of clinical research.

Rating Scales in Mental Health
The Rating Scales in Mental Health handbook discusses and presents various rating scales in psychiatry. This book discusses general concepts in the use of rating scales, history of rating scales, statistical evaluation of rating scales, and rating scale domains. It contains 88 psychiatric rating scales that can be applied in a variety of clinical and/or research settings. An appendix with charts and tables in quick reference format and three indexes are also included in this book.
