Position Description
The University of Utah College of Pharmacy is seeking applications for a clinical track faculty member who will practice in
the University of Utah College of Pharmacy's Drug Regimen Review Center. This full-time clinical track position will be at
the rank of Assistant Professor and the position will be available in Summer 2018.

Responsibilities of the positions are summarized below:
Teaching: The faculty member will be expected to teach in the didactic curriculum of the College of Pharmacy, Physician
Assistant Program, and School of Medicine, will coordinate 1-2 courses, and will serve as a clerkship preceptor for
pharmacy students.

Clinical Practice: The faculty member's practice site will be in the area of formulary management in the University of
Utah College of Pharmacy Drug Regimen Review Center, which supports the Utah Medicaid Drug Utilization Review
(DUR) Board and Pharmacy & Therapeutics (PT) Committee by providing evidence based reviews of targeted drug
classes and individual agents, reports of Utah Medicaid drug utilization, and by reviewing the drug therapy of Medicaid
patients who are frequent utilizers of the Medicaid prescription drug program, or who are otherwise determined to be
at high risk for drug therapy problems and high medical costs.

Scholarship: Faculty are expected to participate in producing scholarly works, which may include clinical research,
outcomes research, review articles, book chapters, and case reports. Presentations at local, regional, and national
meetings will also be expected.

Service: Participation on college, departmental, and university committees is expected. In addition, faculty members
serve as advisors to student organizations, and are expected to be active in local and national professional service.

The applicant should hold a pharmacy degree and should have completed a PGY2 residency, a clinical pharmacy
research fellowship, post-graduate training, and/or have equivalent job-related experience in formulary management,
systematic reviews, and/or drug information.

Applicants should demonstrate excellence in a related practice setting, have a strong desire for teaching and scholarship
in an academic environment, and demonstrate the ability to initiate clinical pharmacy services. Pharmacy licensure or
eligibility for licensure in Utah is required.

About the University of Utah Drug Regimen Review Center
The College of Pharmacy at the University of Utah began operating its Drug Regimen Review Center in partnership with
the Utah State Department of Health in May 2002 in order to improve the safety and efficacy of drug use in Medicaid
patients, reduce the number of prescriptions and drug costs for frequent utilizers of the Medicaid drug program, and to
support and educate the medical professionals who prescribe to utilizers of the program.
Each month, a group of patients is selected for review by a team of clinically trained pharmacists. These reviews result in
recommendations made to all prescribers of medications related to identified drug therapy problems, and include a list
of drugs dispensed during the month of review. The Drug Regimen Review Center also provides information and
consultation by telephone with prescribers and pharmacists.
