Position Description
In the hematology/oncology pharmacist role, you will review and facilitate inpatient oncology medication management in an interactive, interdisciplinary team environment. This position will also involve EPIC oncology protocol development and have an active role in our institutional Oncology Formulary Committee. As part of day-to-day activities, this pharmacist will also provide drug information, education, cost containment and clinical services to our hematology/oncology medical staff. A successful candidate for this role will have experience and advanced training in the practice of oncology/hematology. The completion of an ASHP PGY-1 accredited residency or specialized experience is preferred. The completion of a PGY-2 in oncology or Board Certification in Oncology is favorable.

Sanford Health is a teaching hospital where the pharmacist will have the opportunity for involvement with our PGY-1 residents, PGY-2 critical care resident, Non-traditional residency program and Advanced Practice Pharmacy Experiential students. The pharmacist staff has a rotation through their clinical specialty as well as the central pharmacy and IV room.

Sanford Pharmacy Services are available 24 hours per day, seven days per week in the inpatient setting. The pharmacy team is involved in the inpatient and outpatient departments and work under established P&T protocols as well as collaborative practice agreements. Pharmacy services at Sanford Medical Center also include involvement in cardiology, dialysis, emergency room, general medicine, intensive care, medication reconciliation, medication delivery to bedside, oncology, OR pharmacy, transplant, and an antimicrobial stewardship program. The position includes clinical activities such as pharmacokinetics, TPN monitoring and consultation, anticoagulation review, decentralized satellite coverage, renal dosing, IV to PO adjustments, medication profile review, and antimicrobial stewardship. The position will be an every third weekend rotation with minimal night coverage

The Pharmacy Department at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo is fully automated with robotics, MedCarousel, Acudose and Epic technology. Each campus has a main pharmacy, a satellite OR pharmacy and a decentralized model.
