Assistant/Associate Dean for Student Affairs

The University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS) is seeking a full-time Assistant/Associate Dean for Student Affairs with a faculty rank to be determined based on the qualifications of the selected candidate. SSPPS is located on the Anschutz Medical Campus, located in metro Denver, with state-of-the-art educational facilities designed to foster interprofessional education; superb research facilities to grow the research enterprise; and three hospitals to support and enhance clinical research and practice endeavors.

The Assistant/Associate Dean for Student Affairs (ADSA) is a tenure-eligible position at the University of Colorado, Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS) that reports directly to the dean. The ADSA is responsible for support of applicants and students and management of related issues throughout the PharmD program (from application to graduation) in compliance with ACPE accreditation standards, state and federal laws, and School and University policies and procedures. The ADSA leads a team of Office of Student Services (OSS) staff members dedicated to fulfilling these responsibilities. In addition to the administrative role, the ADSA is responsible for teaching in the school's professional degree curriculum and contributing to the scholarship and service components of the school's overall academic mission.

More specifically, primary responsibilities for this position include: Administrative Responsibilities. Serving as part of the School’s Executive Leadership Team and taking responsibility for oversight of OSS and all student related issues, communications, information, and engagement with various school, university and national entities. Admissions Related Responsibilities. Leading the School’s admissions processes from application to matriculation by serving as the administrative lead for the Admissions Committee in collaboration with the school’s Marketing and Communications unit to develop admissions procedures, process applications, host applicant interviews and manage the applicant/admissions pool to meet annual enrollment goals, while maintaining high academic and professional qualities within the incoming class. Student Experience Responsibilities. Taking responsibility for all non-academic/non-curricular current student-related issues, including new student orientation, student organizations, policies and procedures, drug testing, individual student needs, disability accommodations, tracking and intervening with at-risk students, tutoring programs, career services, events including white coat ceremony and commencement, and serving as the administrative lead for the Scholastic Advancement and Appeals and Awards and Scholarships Committees. Supervisory responsibilities over the following positions: Director of Student Services, Career Services Manager, Admissions Manager and Student Advancement/Compliance Manager.

Applicants must have a Pharm.D. or Ph.D. degree in a relevant field such as pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology or a closely related field. Preference will be given for experience in higher education administration, experience in student affairs, a record of developing and maintaining an independent research, scholarship and/or clinical services program and qualifications for a tenure-eligible faculty appointment at the rank of associate professor or professor. In addition, candidates should have significant experience in pharmacy education and practice or higher education, and a record of commitment to furthering the profession of pharmacy.
