Position Description
The Laboratory of Dr. Zackery Bulman at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate/Pharmacy Fellow in the area of antimicrobial pharmacology. The position will provide advanced training in antimicrobial pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD), bacterial resistance, infectious diseases, translational pharmacology, and dynamic infection models (including the hollow fiber infection model). Dr. Bulman’s Laboratory currently aims to devise novel pharmacotherapeutic approaches that optimize bacterial killing and resistance suppression in order to overcome multidrug resistant bacteria including carbapenem-resistant Gram-negatives. Ongoing projects aim to generate precise pharmacotherapeutic approaches to combat multidrug resistant Gram-negative bacteria by leveraging characterized bacterial resistomes.

Dr. Bulman’s Lab is located in the UIC College of Pharmacy, a College that ranks sixth among the more than 130 pharmacy programs in the United States. In 2016, the UIC College of Pharmacy was ranked sixth among pharmacy programs in the United States in National Institutes of Health research funding (exceeding $11 million) and fifth in total funding (exceeding $18 million). Researchers within the UIC College of Pharmacy include internationally-recognized leaders in clinical pharmacokinetics for antimicrobials, biomolecular sciences, alternative medicine, biotechnology, cancer biology, and pharmacology. The College of Pharmacy is strategically located in the 560 acre Illinois Medical District, which is home to four major hospitals and one of the most diverse patient populations in the country. Expertise, collaboration, and research tools necessary for completion of the various research activities in Dr. Bulman’s Laboratory can be readily accessed at UIC and the hospitals in the Illinois Medical District.
