Position Description
Temple University, a top-ranked research university experiencing great momentum and situated in the City of Philadelphia, invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for the position of Dean of the School of Pharmacy. The Dean is the chief administrative officer and chief academic officer of the School of Pharmacy, providing academic, administrative, and fiscal leadership to the School. This includes responsibility for strategic planning and vision and the continued development of research, teaching and clinical excellence. Reporting to the Provost, the Dean will lead the development and implementation of a bold and exciting vision for a nationally distinguished school of pharmacy. The Dean of Pharmacy will partner closely with faculty and staff within the School, as well as with the faculty and administration across the university.

A Pennsylvania state-supported comprehensive research university ranked in the highest Carnegie research university category, Temple is the 32nd largest university in the United States and one of the nation’s leading centers of professional education. With 17 schools and colleges, eight campuses, over 500 degree programs, and more than 40,000 students, Temple is one of the nation’s most comprehensive and diverse learning environments.

Founded in 1901, Temple University School of Pharmacy (TUSP) has an enrollment of nearly 900 professional and graduate students and offers the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and Master of Science degrees. TUSP is home to the nation's oldest, largest and most comprehensive MS program in Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance. There are 40 faculty and 44 staff across two departments: Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacy Practice. Over the past two decades, TUSP has experienced tremendous research growth, including several specialized laboratory resources: The Moulder Center for Drug Discovery Research, The Jayne Haines Center for Pharmacogenomics and Drug Safety, The cGMP Facility, The Proteomics Laboratory, and The Pharmacokinetics and Bioanalysis Laboratory. The Moulder Center for Drug Discovery Research, founded in 2009, is currently home to a scientific team dedicated to facilitating collaborative research efforts to support the discovery and development of novel therapeutic agents to improve the health and life of patients.

Candidates must have a Pharm.D. and/or Ph.D. or equivalent experience, a distinguished record in research and education, demonstrated leadership and administrative abilities, an understanding of current issues in pharmacy and health care, a passion for excellence, and a commitment to diversity.
