Position Description
The Opioid Stewardship Pharmacy Program Coordinator will serve as a key resource for the development, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of optimized opioid use and pain management strategies in the UK Healthcare Enterprise. These activities will improve the quality of patient care and patient safety related to pain management and the utilization of opioid narcotic therapy for patients in the UK HealthCare Enterprise. The identification of projects/guidelines will arise from a focus on minimization of inappropriate opioid use and will include prevention of addiction, treatment to end addiction, and harm reduction related to the sequelae of drug abuse. Job responsibilities include: identifying and engaging appropriate multidisciplinary clinical experts to enhance judicious use of opioid narcotics; identifying, tracking, and measuring both process and outcome measures related to opioid stewardship; and developing and executing outreach programs to improve opioid stewardship in the community.
