Applied Clinical Pharmacogenomics

The Department of Pharmacy Practice at Auburn University’s Harrison School of Pharmacy invites applications for a 12-month faculty position at the clinical track or tenure track level, with the decision for clinical vs. tenure track depending on the candidate’s interests and qualifications. The Applied Clinical Pharmacogenomics faculty member will lead clinical program development in precision medicine, including implementation across the School of Pharmacy clinics and regional practice sites.
Responsibilities will differ based on whether the appointment is tenure or non-tenure. Some responsibilities successful candidates will be expected to perform:

• Serve as a clinical expert in the area of precision medicine and pharmacogenomics;
• Establish a pharmacogenomics consult service by working with existing pharmacogenomics faculty members and infrastructure;
• Provide consultation, medication therapy management, and clinical guidance in the area of pharmacogenomics;
• Contribute to didactic teaching in the Doctor of Pharmacy and in the MS/PhD programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences;
• Conduct research and scholarly activity commensurate with the scope of the position; and
• Contribute to Department, School, and University service activities.

At the time employment begins: Applicants interested in the Clinical Track must have PharmD degree, current clinical skills, teaching experience, and completion of PGY1 residency. Applicants interested in the Tenure-Track must have PharmD degree, current clinical skills, teaching experience, completion of PGY1 residency, and training and experience to support scholarly productivity. Candidates must be a licensed pharmacist in the State of Alabama or reciprocate their license from another state within the first 180 days of employment. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills are required. We seek candidates that have at least one of the following experiences: 1) completion of a certified training program in pharmacogenomics or precision medicine, 2) experience in a pharmacy environment with emphasis in pharmacogenomics, 3) experience in the development and creation of new pharmacy programs, 4) completion of an ASHP accredited PGY2 residency program, and 5) board certification. Candidates that have not formally been trained in pharmacogenomics are still eligible to apply, but will be required to establish a mentored career development plan in the area of pharmacogenomics.
