Clinical Pharmacist-Surgery/ICU
Based on experience
Clinical Pharmacy Practitioner
Boston, MA
Position Description
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated pharmacist to join a team of critical care, emergency medicine, and surgery pharmacists at Boston Medical Center (BMC). BMC is a large, urban, academic medical center that cares for an under-served patient population. Our vision is to make Boston the “healthiest urban population in the world by 2030”. Our mission, which is foundational to our organization, is to provide “exceptional care without exception”. Pharmacy services at Boston Medical Center are highly integrated into the front-lines of patient care and into the broader leadership structure of the organization. Boston Medical Center has been training pharmacy residents for over 30 years since 1986. We have seven PGY1 residents and PGY2 programs in critical care, internal medicine, emergency medicine, infectious diseases, oncology, and ambulatory care. We also provide support to over 150 student rotations each year from Northeastern University School of Pharmacy, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Science, and other nearby schools and colleges of pharmacy

The Clinical Pharmacist II will be expected to rotate through our surgery clinical pharmacist shifts in acute and critical care and perioperative areas and provide care for neurosurgery, surgical oncology, otolaryngology, and oral, cardiac, thoracic, minimally invasive, colorectal, urology, transplant, trauma and acute care, vascular, and orthopedic surgery patients. BMC has 56 adult ICU beds and the busiest Emergency Department in New England. Additional expectations include participation in quality improvement and patient safety projects that improve the care of surgery patients and advance pharmacy practice at Boston Medical Center, precepting of pharmacy students and residents, and provision of service to a subcommittee of the Residency Advisory Committee.
