Position Description
Wingate University, a comprehensive, independent and growing university near Charlotte, NC, invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the School of Pharmacy. The School seeks an inspiring leader who will foster and encourage an environment of innovation, collaboration and engagement in their faculty, staff and students. As the next leader of a faculty who is evaluating and preparing to modernize its curriculum, the Dean must have a vision for positioning the School to remain successful in its mission to recruit and produce innovative thinkers and problem solvers and be agile enough to proactively adapt to the changing landscape of Pharmacy education.

Demonstrated excellence in teaching, experience with curricular revision and innovative ideas about instruction for students with increasingly diverse learning styles and backgrounds are also highly desirable qualities.

Admitting its charter class in 2003, Wingate University School of Pharmacy currently has an enrollment of approximately 300 professional students pursuing their Doctor of Pharmacy degree. The School has 40 full time faculty and 10 staff across two campuses. The Wingate Campus houses the majority of the students and faculty while a satellite campus in Hendersonville, NC supports our efforts to reach the underserved in western North Carolina. In addition to the Wingate/Charlotte and Hendersonville/Asheville regions, students complete rotations during their fourth professional year in regional zones based in Hickory, Wilmington and Winston-Salem, NC.

The School is part of The Levine College of Health Sciences which also offers the Masters in Physician Assistant Studies, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Doctor of Occupational Therapy and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees. Nearly one-in-five Wingate undergraduate students has declared one of the on-campus health science programs as their major and 60 percent of graduate students are enrolled in health sciences. Interprofessional education (IPE) is already in place with these programs and continues to expand. In addition, a formal IPE agreement is in place with Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston Salem, NC.

Wingate University, whose guiding tenets are faith, knowledge and service, serves more than 3,600 students across three campuses in North Carolina. Founded in 1896, the University offers 37 undergraduate majors as well as six master’s degree and four doctoral degree programs.
