Position Description
The Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice. This is a full-time position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level based at the Health Professions Building in Winchester, VA.


This position emphasizes pharmacy practice and patient care in an ambulatory clinic setting. The primary clinical responsibilities of the faculty member will be the provision of pharmacy services within a multi-specialty outpatient physician practice (Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Infectious Disease) focusing on transitions in care and chronic disease management in high-risk patients.

The faculty member will also serve as a preceptor for IPPE and APPE students and PGY1 residents. Practice responsibilities will encompass a broad range of primary care disease states including, but not limited to, diabetes, dyslipidemia, hypertension, pulmonary diseases, infectious diseases, cardiovascular diseases and anticoagulation management. Didactic teaching will primarily occur within the School of Pharmacy’s therapeutic modules and patient assessment skills series, but may also occur within other courses or laboratories. Service and scholarship responsibilities will be determined by faculty rank as required to accomplish career contract.


The candidate should possess a Pharm.D. degree and be eligible for pharmacy licensure in the State of Virginia. The candidate should possess an in-depth understanding of clinical pharmacy practice, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to develop and work within innovative pharmacy practice models. A pharmacy practice (PGY1) residency with an emphasis in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy or the ability to demonstrate equivalent experience in pharmacy practice is required. A specialty (PGY2) residency or fellowship training with an Ambulatory Care Pharmacy focus is preferred. Candidates with prior academic experience are encouraged to apply.
