A Message from the Editor

Dear Colleagues:

Articles in this issue of ACCP International Clinical Pharmacist highlight topics of importance to the advancement of clinical pharmacist credentials and clinical pharmacy practice.

The article titled “Cardiology and Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Specialty Certifications” reports on two new specialty certification examinations to be offered for the first time in fall 2018. Although pharmacists’ expertise in these specialty areas has been recognized by the Added Qualifications credential under the pharmacotherapy specialty, beginning in 2018, pharmacists will hold the BCCP or BCIDP credential to recognize their competence in providing advanced, specialized care in these areas.

The article titled “ACCP Launches a New Journal: JACCP” reports on the launch of a new journal that focuses on the practice of clinical pharmacy. Articles to be published in the journal will discuss advances in clinical pharmacy practice, including, but not limited to, education and training, care delivery models, credentialing and privileging, and patient outcomes. The journal will be the go-to resource for all practitioners, health care administrators, professional organizations, health care policy-makers, and other stakeholders concerned with advancing pharmacy practice worldwide.

The Book Highlights department features the latest release from the Pharmacotherapy Self-Assessment Program (PSAP): Infectious Diseases. Topics covered in this book are relevant to pharmacists providing care to patients with various infectious diseases in any practice setting.

Finally, as the deadline for abstract submission approaches, pharmacists are urged to share findings from their practice and clinical research to be presented at the upcoming 2018 ACCP Global Conference on Clinical Pharmacy to be held October 20–23. Practicing pharmacists, researchers, students and trainees, health care administrators, and health care organization leaders from across the globe will converge in Seattle to learn about all matters related to clinical pharmacy practice. Abstract submission deadlines are outlined in the article titled “2018 Global Conference on Clinical Pharmacy to Be Held in Seattle.”

Sincerely,
