The 2019 ACCP International Symposium, titled “Antimicrobial Resistance – From Pathogenesis to Patient Care,” will be held September 13, 2019, in London, UK. The goal of the 1-day activity is to educate and engage pharmacists in applying scientific and clinical evidence to real-world patient cases in order to optimize patient care and outcomes.
At the end of the symposium, participants should be able to:
- Discuss the evolution and current understanding of the mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance
- Evaluate the effectiveness of antimicrobial therapy for multidrug-resistant gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens
- Recommend management strategies for multidrug-resistant gram-positive and gram-negative infections
- Devise a monitoring plan to assess the efficacy and safety of antimicrobial therapy
- Apply contemporary clinical evidence to optimize health and patient outcomes
Program faculty Christopher M. Bland, Pharm.D., FCCP, FIDSA, BCPS, will lead the day’s activities, appraising the most up-to-date evidence on the management of multidrug-resistant infections and engaging participants in exercises to apply the evidence to the patient cases and practice scenarios encountered in clinical practice.
