2018 ACCP International Symposium: Pharmacists and the Heart


The 2018 ACCP International Symposium will be held November 16, 2018, in Beirut, Lebanon, in conjunction with the 26th Order of Pharmacists of Lebanon Annual Congress.

Pharmacists and pharmacy trainees will gather to discuss the most up-to-date clinical evidence and practice guidelines informing care for patients with cardiovascular diseases. Outcomes associated with clinical pharmacy services will be outlined.

Overall symposium learning objectives are for participants to:

  1. apply current guidelines and recent clinical trial evidence for managing hypertension, dyslipidemia, and heart failure;
  2. provide evidence-based, individualized recommendations for therapy with antithrombotic agents;
  3. recommend optimal strategies for the pharmacologic treatment of patients presenting with acute coronary syndrome; and
  4. devise outcome measures to assess, document, and advance the quality and cost-effectiveness of patient care services provided by pharmacists.


Throughout the program, expert faculty Cynthia Jackevicius, Pharm.D., M.Sc., BScPharm, FCCP, FCCS, FACC, FAHA, FCSHP, BCPS-AQ Cardiology, APh, will engage participants in case-based activities that illustrate the application of new evidence to patient care decisions.

The symposium will offer 6.0 hours of application-based continuing pharmacy education credit.
