The pharmacy profession is experiencing attrition at a higher rate than ever before, with clinical pharmacists challenged to do more with fewer resources. Mentors can play a key role in supporting clinical pharmacists throughout their career. However, finding a mentor and getting the most out of the relationship can be challenging for clinicians at all stages of their career including early, mid, and late-stage clinicians. This program aims to provide clinicians with guidance on how to identify an ideal mentor and maximize their mentor-mentee relationship. The goal of this program is to discuss the roles and outputs of a mentoring relationship spanning both skill transfer to psychosocial domains from early to later career stages.

Learning Objectives

1. Identify the needs of mentees at different stages of their career (early-, mid-, and late-stage).

2. Propose the qualities and benefits of a successful mentor/mentee relationship.

3. Formulate strategies to avoid common pitfalls that can hamper mentor/mentor relationship.

4. Design a short-term plan for reenergizing your career path with mentorship.
