The role and value of clinical pharmacist on interprofessional teams is undeniable and value-based reimbursement based on "team performance" may be a very important place for clinical pharmacists. Since reimbursement models continue to change, being positioned to be of service to a practice and assist in financial viability will be critically important in the future. The goal of this session is to critically assess evolving reimbursement methods including current and future-leaning models. Attendees will leave with an understanding of global considerations to be aware of when targeting reimbursement for clinical pharmacy activities, novel strategies for incorporation into their practice models across a wide range of settings and specialties, and the tools to bring these strategies forward at the executive level to obtain buy-in at their individual practice settings.
Learning Objectives1. Differentiate current mechanisms of reimbursement for pharmacist activities in various practice settings.
2. Construct novel approaches for obtaining reimbursement for pharmacist activities.
3. Assess logistical and legal challenges to expanding reimbursement or revenue generation.
4. Formulate funding and reimbursement proposals at an executive level.
