Attrition of clinical pharmacists is on the rise with rates reported to be between 6-10%. This program seeks to explore factors that contribute to, protect against, and mitigate clinical pharmacist attrition. The program will be delivered from the perspective of a front-line clinician, mid-level leader/educator, and senior leadership perspective. This program will emphasize approaches that can be incorporated into precepting to promote longevity and wellness in trainees. The goal of this session is for attendees to recognize factors linked with attrition in clinical pharmacy, develop methods to (re)discover meaning in the duties of clinical pharmacy, and provide system-based methods to improve job satisfaction within a pharmacy team.
Learning Objectives1. Describe factors that contribute to and mitigate attrition in clinical pharmacy.
2. Propose strategies to foster career longevity and satisfaction in clinical pharmacy.
3. Demonstrate sustainable practices that contribute to employee retention.
4. Evaluate a clinical practice model to improve employee career satisfaction.
