The i-HOPE Study: Improving Hospital Outcomes through Patient Engagement

A group of hospitalist researchers and patients partnered with the Society of Hospital Medicine and a variety of patient, caregiver and stakeholder organizations to develop a list of research questions aimed at improving the care of hospitalized patients. ACCP was a stakeholder organization in this PCORI funded study and members responding to a survey contributed over 60 topics/questions for the steering committee's consideration.

Now, during Patient Safety Awareness Week, March 10-16, the study is releasing its prioritized list of top research questions. The group hopes the questions can be used by researchers and funders for research studies to improve the care of hospitalized patients, and that patients, families and caregivers can use the questions to advocate for better care practices, and partner with health care providers to improve hospital care.
