AES Issues Statement on Therapeutic Substitution of Antiseizure Medications
April 06, 2020
(April 6, 2020. Lenexa, Kansas). ACCP received today a letter from the American Epilepsy Society that “strongly encourages pharmacists to make every effort to keep patients with epilepsy on their current regimen of antiseizure medications (ASM). Pharmacists should consult with the patient’s prescriber/healthcare provider prior to making any therapeutic substitution of ASM.” The College supports this statement and asks ACCP members caring for patients to be aware of its recommendations. The AES letter is available
