ACCP remains dedicated to creating and sustaining a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA). The organization’s work on DEIA began in 2020; the initial 2021 Strategic Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Plan was published in September 2021; and the 2023 Strategic Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Plan was published in November 2023. Over the past 4 years, ACCP members and PRNs have driven significant changes within the organization to enhance inclusion and increase representation.
Newly implemented DEIA travel awards supported five 2024 Annual Meeting attendees representing residents, fellows, and new practitioners. Travel awards will be offered again for the 2025 Annual Meeting, and applications will open in June 2025. The first convening of Affinity Groups took place at the 2024 Annual Meeting, and a member-wide survey was administered to collect input on Affinity Groups implementation. The 2025 DEIA Committee is evaluating the survey results and working on next steps toward implementing Affinity Groups. The new Excellence in Diversity, Inclusion, Health Equity, and Accessibility Award was announced, and nominations were accepted last fall.
As a reminder, the ACCP Value Filters and DEIA educational module are available to each member within their individual accp.com account. The value filters support decision-making in the context of ACCP’s core values—including the commitment to diversity and inclusion. The educational module provides data derived from ACCP’s baseline DEIA assessment as well as content on foundational DEIA principles in the context of these data. In addition, each member is encouraged to complete the demographics section of their profile. This information is held confidential and is only used to allow ACCP to measure progress toward DEIA goals. Finally, ACCP has a central location for interested members to review a comprehensive and frequently updated progress report. This report includes all objectives from both DEIA plans, together with each objective’s status and relevant activities. It is available to members (sign-in required) as an easily searchable Word document that will frequently be updated throughout the year. View the report on the DEIA webpage or by clicking here. If you have questions or feedback on ACCP’s DEIA efforts, please share them with the 2025 DEIA Committee by sending an email to [email protected] or through an alternative communication channel if you prefer.
