Annual Meeting Keynote

Advancing a Comprehensive and Consistent Practice for Clinical Pharmacists

Join ACCP on Sunday, October 21, during the Opening General Session of the 2012 ACCP Annual Meeting in Hollywood, Florida, for the keynote address titled “Advancing a Comprehensive and Consistent Practice for Clinical Pharmacists – The Future Is Now.” In a unique, multi-presenter keynote session, ACCP and its members will be challenged to examine the needs, expectations, and opportunities in an evolving health care system that increasingly demands patient-centered, coordinated, comprehensive, high quality, and cost-effective care.

Led by Dr. Linda Strand, the Vice President of Professional Services for Medication Management Systems, Inc., and moderated by Dr. Edwin Webb, ACCP’s Associate Executive Director, this presentation will examine the critical importance of a comprehensive and consistent professional practice for clinical pharmacists in order to meet the demands of a reformed health care system, followed by perspectives from an administrator and clinician, education and patient care practice innovator, and health services researcher.

The four presenters for the keynote session are as follows:

Dr. Linda Strand, a Remington Honor Medalist and one of the profession’s most thoughtful and respected leaders in pharmacy practice and education innovation for 3 decades.

Dr. Curt Haas, president-elect of ACCP, will offer perspectives in his capacity both as the incoming president of ACCP and as an administrator/clinician in an academic health center setting.

Dr. Melissa Somma McGivney will offer the perspective of an educator and patient care practice innovator.

Dr. Mary Roth McClurg, treasurer of the ACCP Research Institute Board of Trustees, will offer perspectives as a health services researcher.
