Student Initiatives Update

ACCP Student Membership Grows

We thank the many PRN members and liaisons who have encouraged students to consider professional membership in ACCP. Your efforts to reach out to students continue to expand opportunities for students within the organization.

Since 2005, ACCP student membership has grown from 300 members to more than 2000 today. ACCP has student members in 48 states and 11 countries, representing 131 institutions.

ACCP’s Popular Online Curriculum Vitae Review Program Returns

ACCP’s innovative Online Curriculum Vitae Review Service is accepting submissions. This program, which began in 2006, is an exclusive service offered to ACCP student and postgraduate trainee (PGT) members to facilitate their curriculum vitae (CV) preparation. As the clinical pharmacy profession continues to see an increase in demand for internship experiences and residency positions and an increase in competition for first-rate jobs, it is vital that students have a well-written CV. An effective CV can provide a positive image for the future selection of committees or employers and distinguish an individual from the crowd.

Demand for the CV Review Service grew last year as ACCP CV reviewers provided almost 400 students and PGTs valuable professional advice to improve their CVs. To better serve our students and PGTs, ACCP is extending the service to accept CV submission through May 31, 2013. The service will then reopen on August 1, 2013.

Students and PGT members may submit their CVs online as a Microsoft Word document and have them randomly assigned to a volunteer ACCP member reviewer. The ACCP reviewer will provide his or her comments and suggested edits using the track changes feature of Microsoft Word. Participants will receive an e-mail containing feedback from the reviewer within 14 business days.

2012–2013 National Student Network Advisory Committee Appointed

Earlier this year, ACCP issued a call for applications to student members interested in serving on the National Student Network Advisory Committee (SNAC). The College received applications from students across the country. After reviewing their applications, ACCP President-Elect Curtis Haas selected student members for appointment. ACCP is pleased to announce the appointment of the following student members to the 2012–2013 ACCP SNAC. The committee will meet at the upcoming 2012 Annual Meeting in Hollywood, Florida.
