Adult Medicine PRN

Introduction:

The Adult Medicine PRN consists of practitioners, residents, and students who share an interest in shaping the practice of adult medicine through research and practice in a variety of settings. The following paragraphs highlight some of the Adult Medicine PRN’s activities and member accomplishments.

Looking toward the ACCP Annual Meeting this fall, the Adult Medicine PRN Programming Committee has been actively planning a focus session highlighting the optimal use of dual antiplatelet therapy. Practitioners will have the opportunity to review current evidence regarding indications for antiplatelet therapy and strategies for preventing complications from treatment.

The PRN Archives Committee has been developing revised online content and ensuring that the content and format are best suited for our members. Our Training and Travel Awards Committee continues to award students and new practitioners with travel awards for the 2014 ACCP Annual Meeting. The Nominations Committee has also reviewed applications and presented two awards to exceptional members this year. These recipients were recognized at the PRN’s business meeting last fall. Details can be found below.

Ambulatory Care PRN

Introduction:

The Ambulatory Care PRN motto for this year is “Building Better.” Membership in the Ambulatory Care PRN has now reached 1800 members! Our committee chairs and members have been challenged with exploring new and innovative ways to serve  the Ambulatory Care PRN members. The committees were slightly restructured this year, with the Student/Resident Committee being divided into an individual Student Committee and an individual Resident Committee, with the hope of increasing and improving student and resident involvement in the PRN. The Education Committee developed a webinar for students and residents to help them understand and improve their interviewing skills for their first residency or professional position. In addition, the Ambulatory Care PRN is offering 10 ACCP Academy registrations for its members. The PRN officers and committee chairs have been meeting periodically to provide updates to the PRN regarding committee activities; these business minutes can be located on the ACCP Ambulatory Care PRN Web page.
