Postgraduate Trainee Initiatives Update

ACCP Postgraduate Trainee News Update

The 2012–2013 Resident Advisory Committee (RAC) would like to thank the PRNs for providing feedback regarding opportunities for involvement in the individual PRNs. This information will be made available to all postgraduate trainee (PGT) members.

All resident, fellow, and graduate student ACCP members receive a monthly electronic newsletter titled Experts in Training, which highlights membership benefits, important dates, and advice from other residents and experienced ACCP members.

The ACCP Mentoring Program allows all ACCP PGT members to search the database of ACCP members who have volunteered to serve as mentors. Once trainees have selected a mentor, they are encouraged to correspond with their mentor at least monthly throughout their training year. ACCP supports mentors and mentees with monthly e-mails of potential topics for discussion. The opportunities and resources that ACCP offers PGT members are also included in the monthly correspondence.

The RAC, which is made up of residents, fellows, and graduate students, has directed several initiatives, including educational programming for PGT members. The 2012–2013 RAC determined that, although trainee-specific topics are important, the ACCP Annual Meeting provides an abundance of programming for attendees. Therefore, the RAC has shifted its efforts to developing Web-based educational programs in 2014.

The 2013 RAC has been appointed. The committee will be chaired by Rena Gosser and cochaired by Yardlee Kauffman. Members-at-large serving on the committee include Samuel Aitken, Trang Au, Nicole Dores, Drayton Hammond, Philip King, Natsuki Kubotera, Jeremy Moretz, Vivian Nguyen, Sarah Payne, Sara Richter, Kimberly Terry, and Katie Unger.
