PRN Business and Networking Meetings

PRNs to Host Business Meetings and Networking Forums at 2014 Annual Meeting

ACCP’s PRNs provide a focal point for clinical pharmacists with common interests and needs in practice, research, and education. Each PRN hosts a business meeting and networking forum at the Annual Meeting. All meeting registrants are invited to attend these events. A complete listing of PRN business meetings and networking forums follows.

Monday, October 13, 2014
6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (CDT)

Adult Medicine PRN – Join the Adult Medicine PRN officers and both current and prospective members during our business meeting and networking reception. During the meeting, you will have the opportunity to interact with meeting attendees, learn about the PRN, and sign up for various committees.

Cardiology PRN – The Cardiology PRN annual business meeting serves as a networking opportunity for meeting attendees who share a practice focus or specific interest in cardiovascular pharmacotherapy and practice. After a brief business component, an informal reception will follow to facilitate networking among new and current members and collaboration on PRN-related projects.

Critical Care PRN – Join us for the Critical Care PRN networking reception/business meeting, and interact with colleagues while you enjoy appetizers and beverages. Presentations will include a summary of PRN activities, reports from PRN officers, and the Resident/Fellow Research Travel Award presentation.

Drug Information PRN – The business of the PRN will be addressed at the PRN annual meeting, and new officers will be installed. The recipient of the Resident Travel Award will give a presentation, and the recipient of the Distinguished Drug Information Practitioner will be announced.

Education and Training PRN – After our business meeting, a brief discussion on interviewing skills will take place. Clinical faculty and practitioners from around the nation will then hold practice interviews for students getting ready to apply for jobs or residencies and for residents and fellows preparing to apply for their first career positions. All educators, students, and postgraduate trainees are invited to attend.

Endocrine and Metabolism PRN – New and current members of the PRN are invited to attend our networking forum and annual business meeting. A planned networking reception will follow.

Geriatrics PRN – Please join the Geriatrics PRN business meeting for an informal reception of networking, planning, and socializing. All interested in the care of older adults are welcome. Students and residents are encouraged to attend as well. Appetizers and beverages will be served.

HIV PRN – Join the HIV PRN as we host our inaugural business and networking meeting. The PRN will give members an opportunity to collaborate on and discuss the management of patients with HIV through transitions of care in both inpatient and ambulatory care settings. The PRN will help clinical pharmacists optimize care for HIV-infected patients by providing a forum in which to share evidence-based recommendations and professional experiences. All clinical pharmacists who come in contact with one or many HIV-infected patients are encouraged to attend.

Nephrology PRN – Meeting attendees interested in nephrology are invited to participate in this networking forum. A brief business report of current and future initiatives will be followed by research presentations from the Nephrology PRN Travel Award recipients. The meeting closes with an open forum and networking opportunities. Snacks and beverages will be provided.

Pain and Palliative Care PRN – Join us for the annual Pain and Palliative Care PRN business meeting. This will include a presentation of travel awards, an open forum for business from any members who are present, an ACCP Board of Regents presentation, and an opportunity to connect with colleagues from around the country/world.

Pediatrics PRN – The Pediatrics PRN will be holding its annual business meeting and discussing the current and future activities of the PRN. This will include discussions of the activities of the Education, Awards, Nominations, Collaborations, Resident/Student, and Research committees. Included will be a presentation on research that is being done by the student and resident recipients of the Travel Award; updates on topics within the pediatrics clinical pharmacy environment including, but not limited to, board examination preparation; and updates on PRN finances.

Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics/Pharmacogenomics PRN – Please join us for our PRN business meeting and networking forum.

Ambulatory Care PRN – Participants will join colleagues for an interactive and informative, yet fun-filled 90 minutes of activities, including several discussions designed to update them on the state of affairs of the PRN, while networking and sharing with other new and current members. Grab a friend and join us to connect with the Ambulatory Care PRN.

Central Nervous System PRN – Please join us for the Central Nervous PRN business meeting and networking forum.

Clinical Administration PRN – The Clinical Administration PRN business meeting and networking forum is an opportunity for pharmacy clinical administrators and pharmacy informaticists to network with other professionals.

Emergency Medicine PRN – Please join us for our PRN business meeting and networking forum. All PRN members and interested meeting attendees are welcome. The business meeting will include an update of PRN activities and initiatives, presentations by our Student and Resident Travel Award recipients, and an opportunity to become involved with the PRN and meet others with interests and practices in emergency medicine. Light appetizers and beverages will be provided.

GI/Liver/Nutrition PRN – Current and prospective members are encouraged to attend. Appetizers and beverages will be provided. Please come prepared to share ideas on focus session topics for next year’s meeting. We hope to honor our travel awardees and hear brief presentations of their projects. New officers for the PRN will be introduced, and an open forum will be held for any other issues the membership would like to discuss.

Global Health PRN – Join the Global Health PRN as we host our inaugural business and networking meeting. The PRN will provide existing and new ACCP members with a network to address global health concerns and to share practice models and research on an international level. Regardless of your practice setting or specialty, you probably have a topic or practice issue that you encounter on a regular basis that transcends geographic borders. Join us to learn more.

Health Outcomes PRN – Join the Health Outcomes PRN officers and prospective members during the business meeting and networking forum. During the business meeting, you will have the opportunity to interact with meeting attendees and learn about the PRN. Appetizers and beverages will be available for your enjoyment.

Hematology/Oncology PRN – The PRN business meeting will consist of discussions about committee accomplishments, PRN Student/Resident Travel Awards, PRN paper status, and additional PRN general business. The new officers will be introduced, and volunteers for committees will be solicited. The Resident/Fellow of the Year will make a presentation as well.

Immunology/Transplantation PRN – Current and prospective members are welcome to join. The business meeting will consist of installing new officers, discussing current and future PRN initiatives, and honoring the recipients of our PRN Resident/Fellow Travel Awards and hearing their brief presentations.

Infectious Diseases PRN – Please join us for the Infectious Diseases PRN business meeting and networking forum.

Pharmaceutical Industry PRN – The annual PRN business meeting serves as a networking opportunity for meeting attendees who share a practice focus or specific interest in industry practice. After a brief business meeting, an informal reception will take place to facilitate networking among new and current members of the PRN. Please join us. Snacks and beverages will be provided.

Women’s Health PRN – Please join us to discuss current topics in women’s health related to pharmacy education considering all areas (core curriculum, electives, and experiential) and with all learners (students and residents), foster meaningful discussion, gain increased awareness, receive networking opportunities related to this topic, and determine the potential for further discussions, resources, or scholarship related to this topic for our membership at future meetings.
