ACCP’s 2011 Annual Meeting, October 16–19, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, promises to engage attendees in a wide variety of educational programs, including topics ranging from emerging therapies to clinical pharmacy’s future impact on global health issues. Start building your Annual Meeting educational itinerary around the curricular tracks—each of which offers three sessions designed to deliver in-depth information on the topic area.
Curricular Track I—The Immunologic Basis of Pathophysiology and Therapeutics will explore the role of the immune system in the pathophysiology and pharmacotherapy of multiple disease states, examine current and emerging immunosuppressive therapy in transplantation, and review the evolution of immunomodulatory therapies in oncology. This track will also define the role of new immunotherapies in the management of multiple disease states, including neurologic, rheumatologic, gastrointestinal, and cardiovascular diseases.
Curricular Track II—Innovative Pharmacy Practices and Expanding the Scope of Pharmacy Practice will address the challenges faced by clinical pharmacists in expanding the scope of pharmacy practice and identify key factors and steps required to successfully launch and establish an innovative practice model. This curricular track will also review the potential implications of health care reform on innovative practice models.
Curricular Track III—Clinical Pharmacy and Global Health will review current and emerging global health issues affecting the United States and developing countries and discuss the role of the clinical pharmacist in the future of global health. This curricular track will also examine immunization as a global and domestic issue and compare pharmacotherapy concerns on maternal health in developed and developing countries.
