ACCP Report - January 2018

2018 Midterm Elections! ACCP-PAC Contributions Support Bipartisan Health Care Leaders in Congress

Heading into the 2018 election season, ACCP-PAC has almost $60,000 cash on hand to support elected officials and candidates who are committed to a care delivery system in which clinical pharmacists, working within integrated medical practices, are responsible for providing significant portions of the medication management work and for helping to achieve clinical goal attainment for patients' medication use.

ACCP's advocacy efforts in Washington, D.C., related to its Medicare Initiative are perfectly aligned with the College's ongoing and ever-expanding clinical practice advancement initiatives essential for integrating clinical pharmacy services into contemporary team-based health care delivery. ACCP is entirely focused on providing clinical pharmacists with the actionable tools, knowledge, and skills needed to meaningfully transform practice management and leadership development.

Amid the sometimes toxic political environment in Washington, D.C., where the partisan divide has reached unprecedented levels, ACCP is targeting true health care leaders from both parties who are willing to work with colleagues across the aisle to enact health care legislation focused on team-based, patient-centered care that measures and rewards quality and outcomes.

However, because these moderate, bipartisan legislators will inevitably face primary challenges from the fringes of their respective parties, it is vital that ACCP be able to provide support for such leaders in order to ensure they remain in Washington and continue to advance policies that meaningfully address current U.S. health care issues.

Only ACCP members are eligible to contribute to the PAC and allow it to make these vital political contributions. With its more than 18,000 ACCP members, ACCP is in a position to become one of the most prominent pharmacy PACs in Washington. To do this, the PAC needs the widespread support of the ACCP membership.

If each ACCP member contributed just $25, ACCP-PAC would raise over $350,000. All ACCP members should consider donating at least $25 to ACCP-PAC. Click here to support your PAC today!
