The Journal of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (JACCP), an official journal of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, is devoted to clinical pharmacy in all practice settings. JACCP’s publisher, Wiley-Blackwell, is planning a multi-journal special issue on Gender Equity in Healthcare. JACCP will participate in this endeavor and is seeking submissions on Gender Equity in Clinical Pharmacy Practice and Education. JACCP’s contribution to this special issue will be edited by Dr. Brittany Bissell from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy alongside Dr. Jerry Bauman, JACCP editor-in-chief.

The goal of this special issue is to present the latest research on gender equity within the context of clinical pharmacy practice and education. We welcome submissions on all aspects of gender equity in health care. Furthermore, we intentionally seek to explore gender equity within a global context, across specialties, through a diverse authorship, and from a wide variety of perspectives. Systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and original research should include measurable and reproducible outcomes centered on the role of gender equity within our profession. The scope of manuscripts desired includes the “gender data gap,” or gaps in published research, contributing to inequity; the underrepresentation in medical leadership or particular specialty practice areas; and the removal of gender bias in clinical research, medical education, and teaching practices. Other types of papers are welcome and can include discussions on removing barriers and improving access to health care for people of all gender identities and exploring gender equity from a patient care or patient experience perspective.
