Team Campbell withstood challenges from 83 other student teams, advancing through 4 preliminary online rounds and live quarterfinal and semifinal round matches at the Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh to face the team from the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center College of Pharmacy in the final round.

Each member of the second place team from the University of Tennessee received a $250 cash prize and the team was awarded a commemorative plaque to take home to their school of pharmacy. Representing Team Tennessee were Jake Smith, team leader and members Mark Dunnenberger and Jennifer Rivers.

Throughout each round of the competition, the student teams answered questions in three distinct segments. In the Trivia/Lightning category, students answered items on pharmacology, pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics/pharmacogenomics, pharmacy history, and biostatistics. The Clinical Case Segment challenged students to answer 5 multiple choice items based on a pediatric clinical case vignette. During the Jeopardy-style segment, students had a chance to answer questions of varying point values in 5 predetermined categories. Final round categories included biostatistics, cardiovascular disorders, critical care, endocrinology, and infectious diseases.

ACCP’s Past President, Jim Tisdale, Pharm.D., BCPS, FCCP served as moderator for the final round of competition. A large and enthusiastic crowd of supporters watched the finals, applauding spontaneously as the teams’ scores remained close after the triva/lightning and case segments. Team Campbell ultimately prevailed with a commanding performance in the Jeopardy segment. ACCP commends Team Campbell on their significant achievement.
