The PGY2 Internal Medicine residency provides the resident with focused experience in adult Internal Medicine (6 months). One month each of Infectious Diseases and Medical Intensive Care are required. The resident is an integral member of the Internal Medicine teaching service and manages patients from admission in the ED to discharge. Residents participate in the University of Texas Academic Training Program, which offers opportunities to teach didactic lectures, facilitate a pharmacotherapy lab, and precept APPE students. Successful graduates will be prepared for employment as a Clinical Specialist in an inpatient setting or as a non-tenure track faculty member.
