An understanding of the management of metabolic complications and gastrointestinal/hepatic disorders is imperative for the critical care pharmacist. Fluids and Nutrition/GI and Liver Disorders, the latest release in the Critical Care Self-Assessment Program (CCSAP), provides evidence-based medicine for patients with fluid/electrolyte complications, and/or GI/hepatic disorders; as well as current and relevant recommendations addressing best practices in nutrition support therapy and the provision of nutrition support services.

Jane M. Gervasio, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCNSP

Fluids and Nutrition/GI and Liver Disorders has two modules offering a total of 11.0 available continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credits. The book was developed under the leadership of Faculty Panel Chair Jane M. Gervasio, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCNSP.

The first module includes chapters on fluid and hyponatremia management, current topics in nutrition support, and the implementation of nutrition support services. The second module includes chapters on GI alterations, acute liver failure, and severe acute pancreatitis.

Each CCSAP release includes two full-color online formats: (1) interactive PDFs you can save to your desktop or print; and (2) an e-media version you can view on an e-reader, tablet, iOS, or Android smart phone.

All CCSAP chapters are fully referenced, with clickable hyperlinks to literature compilers such as PubMed. Other links provide ready access to clinical practice guidelines, official recommendations, and patient assessment tools. Graphic features focus on pivotal studies, patient care scenarios, and take-home points that can be readily integrated into clinical practice.
