The latest release in ACCP’s new Pediatric Self-Assessment Program (PedSAP) focuses on a range of topics that may commonly be encountered in pediatric emergency rooms.

Jeanette D. Trella, Pharm.D., BCPPS

Pediatric Emergencies carries a total of 11.5 continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credits. Content was developed under the leadership of Faculty Panel Chair Jeanette D. Trella, Pharm.D., BCPPS.

Evidence-based review chapters in the first module include a general toxicology overview and the assessment and management of acetaminophen overdoses. Chapters in the second module review pediatric resuscitation guidelines and the emergent management of burn and fire victims. The Clinical and Practice Updates module comprises three electronic features that use innovative learning formats. These include a web-based series of interactive cases on lipid emulsion therapy in drug toxicity; a recorded webcast on pediatric medication errors; and a second recorded webcast on adolescent suicide and substance abuse.

All PedSAP chapters are fully referenced, with online links to literature compilers such as PubMed. In addition, hypertext links provide ready access to clinical practice guidelines, and other resources. PedSAP releases are designed not only to provide BCPPS recertification credits but also to update the pediatric clinical practitioner and improve patient outcomes.
