Aids Enhance Content Mastery
The 2013-2015 PSAP releases include many new features designed to promote assimilation of this important information.
- Baseline Knowledge Statements outline the foundational topic information presumed on the part of the reader and not contained in the chapter.
- Additional Readings cite open-source materials that can maximize learning by providing baseline information on the topic.
- Reference values for a wide range of common laboratory tests are provided in a convenient back-of-the-book table.

Program Goals and Target Audience
PSAP is a series of continuing education activities that provide pertinent pharmacotherapeutic updates with an emphasis on quality patient care. Each PSAP release presents the latest information on a specific topic, with content drawn from the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) outline for the Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS). This allows pharmacists to develop and assess their knowledge in the science and application of pharmacotherapy and to enhance their educational competence in this specialty.
Each PSAP release has new, evidence-based content that can be integrated into structured training programs or assist advanced-level practitioners in maintaining their clinical competence. PSAP has been approved by BPS as an acceptable professional development activity for BCPS recertification.
PSAP 2013-2015 Series Editors
Leading the series are coeditors John E. Murphy, Pharm.D., FCCP, FASHP, Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Science and Associate Dean for Academic and Professional Affairs, the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy, Tucson, Arizona; and Mary Wun-Len Lee, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS, Vice President and Chief Academic Officer, Pharmacy and Health Sciences Education, Midwestern University, and Professor of Pharmacy Practice, Midwestern University, Chicago College of Pharmacy, Downers Grove, Illinois.
Continuing Pharmacy Education Credit
The American College of Clinical Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. The number of continuing pharmacy education contact hours earned for successfully completing a posttest varies with each PSAP module. The ACPE-approved continuing pharmacy education credit associated with each PSAP module is available for 3 years after the date of release. All PSAP releases are application-based activities.
BCPS Recertification by Continuing Education
Subscribers seeking board certified pharmacotherapy specialist (BCPS) recertification credit from a PSAP module must submit the posttest within 4 months after the release of the book. Refer to the first page of each release for the deadline to submit posttests for BCPS recertification credit.
Posttests submitted for BCPS recertification credit are processed within 60 days of the published test deadline. Only completed posttests are eligible for credit. The passing point for BCPS recertification credit is based on a statistical analysis of the posttest results for each module. Credits earned by passing the posttest are forwarded to BPS.
This six-book PSAP series is designed to provide sufficient opportunity for the 120 continuing pharmacy education credits needed for recertification as a BCPS.
ACPE Continuing Pharmacy Education Credit
To receive ACPE continuing pharmacy education credit for a PSAP module, the posttest must be completed online and submitted for scoring. ACPE continuing pharmacy education credit is awarded for posttest scores of 50% or greater. Answers to the self-assessment questions, with detailed rationale and supporting references, are made available online to subscribers after the close of the BCPS testing period.
WAIVER
To receive detailed answers to PSAP questions without submitting a posttest, go to “My Account” on the ACCP Web site, select the module you wish to waive, and click the “waive credit” link. You will receive a link to view the self-assessment question answers, along with detailed rationale and supporting references. By completing this process, you waive the opportunity to receive continuing pharmacy education credit for that PSAP module.
