Overview

This webinar series is part of the professional development program for the recertification of the BCOP pharmacist.

This course is intended for BCOPs in need of recertification credit and is designed based on the content outline developed by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) to provide an overview of recent standards and guidelines that specialists should be familiar with in practice.

This online activity is approved for 1.5 hours of continuing pharmacy education credit and/or recertification credit.

This webinar recording covers the most critical guideline updates from ASCO and NCCN, review the most critical publications of interest to BCOPs, and briefly highlight new drug indications and approvals since April 2020.

Target Audience

The target audience for Oncology Guideline, Drug, and Publication Update 2020 is the pharmacist interested in learning more about the most critical guidelines that have been released in 2020 or for Board-certified Oncology Pharmacists (BCOPs) looking to earn recertification credit.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the program participants should be able to:

  1. Review newly approved oncologic agents and treatment regimens for patients with solid tumors.
  2. Evaluate literature associated with new approvals.
  3. Describe changes to the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) clinical practice guidelines for various solid tumor diagnoses.
  4. Discuss incorporation of updates into clinical practice.
  5. Identify FDA-approvals of novel and existing therapies in the treatment of acute leukemias and myelodysplastic syndromes, chronic leukemias, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.
  6. Evaluate clinical data supporting recent FDA-approvals in hematologic malignancies.
  7. Design an appropriate patient-specific treatment, supportive care, and monitoring plan taking into consideration efficacy and safety outcomes from clinical trials and current guidelines for patients with hematologic malignancies as it relates to newly approved therapies.

Recertification Credit

 

To be eligible to earn BCOP recertification credit, participants must purchase the Oncology Guideline, Drug, and Publication Update 2020 Webinar, successfully review the recordings, and complete, submit and pass a Web-based posttest by October 12, 2021. The passing point to earn BCOP recertification credit is based on an expert analysis of the assessment items in each posttest module. Any posttest submitted before the BCOP posttest deadline that meets this passing point will earn BCOP recertification credits. These credits will be assigned as of the date of test submission. Posttests may not be submitted more than one time. Partial credit is not available for this activity. For statements of recertification credit, visit www.bpsweb.org.

All participants must have a Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) board certification credential number, BPS ID Number, and a BPS expiration date on file with ACCP for reporting purposes.
