The areas of gastroenterology and nutrition span a variety of different topics that pharmacists may encounter in various aspects of practice. Gastroenterology and Nutrition provides evidence-based information on the management of several important gastrointestinal disorders and nutrition-based topics.
The book has two learning modules. The first module covers treatment and prevention of gastrointestinal bleeding, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and management of constipation and postoperative ileus. The second module contains updates on management of the complications of liver disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease in adult patients, and two nutrition-based chapters on sports nutrition and infant formulas.
Each PSAP-VII chapter has an extensive annotated bibliography that identifies key research articles, clinical practice guidelines, texts, and Web sites relevant to recent developments in that particular area of pharmacotherapy. New to this edition, each chapter identifies baseline knowledge resources that can provide additional background on the topic, if needed.
