Updates in Therapeutics®: The Pharmacotherapy Preparatory Review and Recertification Course, 2011 Edition

Program Overview

Updates in Therapeutics®: The Pharmacotherapy Preparatory Course is approved by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) as one of three components in a professional development program that can be used by Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialists (BCPS) as an alternative to the written recertification examination.

Developed by Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialists, the course provides a comprehensive review of the knowledge domains covered in the Pharmacotherapy Specialty Certification Examination. The course uses a case-based approach, with strong emphasis on the thought processes needed to solve patient care problems in each therapeutic area.

ACCP, as the official provider approved by BPS, will record and report recertification credit earned for this activity directly to BPS. The course content, developed by clinical and educational experts, is from the live presentation of the Pharmacotherapy Preparatory Review Course. The course is available both online and as a CD-ROM and workbook package. Both formats include a Web-based recertification test. Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialists who take the 2011 course* and successfully complete the self-assessment test by September 1, 2011, will earn 24.0 hours of recertification credit.

*2011 course materials available June 2011.
