Clinical Reasoning Series in Critical Care Pharmacy – Part Two: Alternative Therapeutics for Septic Shock

Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM PDT at Continental Ballrooms 7-9

Available for 3.00 hours of CPE credit
Activity Number: 0217-0000-22-231-L01-P
Activity Type: An Application-Based Activity

Board Certified Critical Care Pharmacists are at the forefront of treatment of patients with sepsis. This evolving field has seen the rise and fall of multiple therapeutic interventions. While the ‘cure for sepsis’ has yet to be discovered- there are drug classes with both old and emerging data that may offer promising therapeutics for the treatment and mitigation of this disease. Part one of this program will explore the following topics: the role of the endocrine system in the pathogenesis of sepsis, hormone supplementation as a therapeutic intervention and catecholamine sparing hemodynamic management strategy. Part two of the program will provide an overview of the immunology of sepsis, therapeutics to mitigate inflammation, and identify novel agents in the pipeline for treatment of sepsis. Both programs will focus on the application of pathophysiology and pharmacology in treatment selection, as it relates to the pros and cons of the current evidence. Participants will have the opportunity to attend one or both educational activities. Each activity will offer 3.0 contact hours of continuing pharmacy education credit toward BCCCP recertification credit upon completion of a required posttest by the submission deadline and achievement of a predetermined passing score. The posttest will be available on November 9, 2022. The deadline to submit posttests and earn recertification credit for the session will be November 9, 2023. If you have not already purchased the posttest and wish to add it to your registration, email [email protected] or visit the registration desk on or before Oct. 18, 2022.
